Derry House was located on Ridgemount Road in Sunningdale, Berkshire. The surrounding properties were large detached houses, but there was no predominant style in the area. Instead of designing a pastiche executive house with faux stone detailing, we allowed the traditional English Queen Anne-style architecture to develop the design of the property. The new building was brick, with a focus on traditional brick detailing to break up the façade while the rear design of the property was a contrasting modern take on family life.
Internally the modern twist continued. An open-plan kitchen area incorporated large sliding windows to maximize views and enhance connections to the landscaped rear garden. The staircase was situated under a canopied roof light and adorned with stylised pendant lighting. It formed a beautiful Art Deco core to the house that drew you up to explore the rooms it served above.
