AKO Centre

Client : UCS Hampstead
Location : London
Budget : £600k
Completed : 2018

Lewandowski Architects were approached by University College School Hampstead to provide designs for a new Centre for Innovation in Learning and Technology together with proposals for the complete refurbishment of their existing two-storey library. The biggest challenge we faced was to turn a poorly lit and unyielding library into a bright and vibrant space that offered additional flexible learning environments without increasing the floor area.

Our proposals rationalised the existing floor plan layout by introducing a new feature staircase within an existing void and creating flexible co-working spaces of varying sizes. The colour palette and materiality throughout the refurbishment was carefully selected to reflect and enhance the relevant work environments.
