Lewandowski Architects worked together with Halstead Preparatory School over a five year period, to establish the current needs of the school. Initially a masterplan was prepared following a space audit to make sure the entire site was considered.
Both phases of the development were completed in 2014. The first phase delivered a new dining hall, toilets and a new food technology teaching space, with the second phase involving alterations to the existing Victorian main school building following vacation of these spaces into the new facilities.
Both buildings were designed to use innovative sustainable construction methods and consideration was given in the design phases to achieving construction of the buildings in a fully working school environment.
