The design sought to respond to challenges offered by the site, such as its situation within the green belt, its topography and its relation to neighbouring properties. The new design is in the classical style to reflect elements of the surrounding detached dwellings in the area. A basement was created with light well connections to the house above, to ensure the openness of the greenbelt was not damaged.
We have created a rhythm of windows serving each floor level in order to provide high quality classical proportion and lighting both externally and internally. One-storey wings break out from this rhythm establishing a more modern feel at the rear, to interact with its surrounding landscape. From here a raised terrace was formed, overlooking a sloping topography and a matured landscape.
